Utility companies offer discounted rates for customers if they have low income or are in receipt of specific benefits. For example South East Water social tariff , your household income threshold is £16,010 not including Child Tax Credit, Disability Living Allowance, Mortgage Interest Relief, Attendance Allowance, Housing and Council Tax Benefits.
So it is worthwhile checking if your supplier has similar low tariffs which you can apply.
Also if you are in debt, speak to your supplier as they may have schemes in place to help with your bills and arrears including hardship funds and grants.
